This picture of Jasmine's 'rooting pen' was taken in March of 1999. As described on our Pig Tips Page, this rooting pen is made from a plastic 'under-the-bed' storage container (sans lid), which is short enough for a miniature pig to step into, and is filled with mostly oval, smooth (e.g. no sharp edges), river/landscaping rock. The food and dry treats (e.g. bird seed, dried corn, etc...) can then be tossed in amongst the rocks, making for some rooting FUN during meals! (as well as allowing an outlet for a pig's natural rooting instinct)
